A Message from the Director
The Burr Cooperative Nusery School was
founded in 1983 as a non-profit cooperative organization by a group of
dedicated parents striving to create a quality nursery school. Originally
housed in Burr Elementary School,
BCNS moved in 1989 to its current location at the United Parish of Auburndale
church. The staff (a director and two teachers) consists
of devoted, experienced teachers whose aim is to nurture the development
of each child and to create an environment where children learn through
experience. Parents are involved in all aspects of
the school, as parent helpers in the classroom monthly, and as members
of committees or the board of directors.
Burr Cooperative is a small, caring school community. There are approximately
15-20 families at the school each year, with up to 16 children attending
each day. Our adult to child ratio is approximately 1:5, which allows us
to provide individual attention and to design curriculum and activities
that meet children's individual interests and fascinations.
BCNS school year runs from early September to early-June. School
hours are 9 a.m. to 12 noon,
with an optional lunch program from noon to 1 p.m. and an optional early
drop-off from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
